Preview Data (Thumbnail) for User-Created Templates for each scene
Currently, in the dashboard, clicking on a public template opens a modal window showing a preview of the template along with thumbnails for each scene. From what I understand, the data for this modal comes from the internal API (api2.heygen.com/v1/pacific/template.list2).
However, for templates accessed through the public API, the “List Templates V2” endpoint only provides a thumbnail_image_url for the first scene. This limitation makes it difficult to get a clear idea of the full video and restricts how effectively users can interact with these templates.
For multi-scene templates, it would be very helpful to have access to information for all scenes, at least thumbnails, so that users can see the context before customising with their data. This would greatly improve the user experience by giving them a clearer understanding of what they are filling in.
Additionally, if the API could provide more detailed information—such as the position and size of components within each scene—it would enable smoother integration and more advanced use cases. Otherwise, while the current template API is useful, its limitations may hinder users from fully leveraging multi-scene templates.
Are there any plans to provide multi-scene previews and additional component data via the public API, and if so, is there a timeline for these enhancements?
